Salt Lake City vs. Stockton

STOCKTON, Calif. (Interstat) — A Pacific Division showdown with playoff implications is set for Saturday when the Stockton Kings host the Salt Lake City Stars at Stockton Arena.

The Kings (28-16) enter with the superior record, but the Stars (26-22) have historically found success in this matchup, winning four of the last five meetings. Their most recent clash was a thriller, with Stockton escaping with a 138-134 overtime victory at home on Jan. 24.

Salt Lake City arrives looking to snap a four-game skid, including a 132-110 loss at Iowa on Wednesday. Despite the team’s struggles, forward Dereon Seabron has been a consistent bright spot. Over his last 10 games, he is averaging a near triple-double of 16.7 points, 7.0 rebounds and 5.8 assists, including a 21-point, 13-rebound performance in the loss to Iowa.

Stockton aims to rebound from a 117-108 road loss to Valley on Tuesday. Guard Isaiah Stevens leads the Kings’ backcourt, coming off a 25-point, 7-assist effort in that defeat. In his last four appearances, Stevens has averaged 18.0 points and 7.8 assists, providing crucial playmaking for one of the G League’s top teams.

The game will feature a contrast in recent momentum against a backdrop of high-scoring history. The last five meetings have averaged a combined 259 points. Salt Lake City’s offense, which put up 134 points in the January loss here, will test a Stockton defense that has allowed an average of 112.3 points over its last three outings.

With both teams jockeying for Western Conference positioning, Saturday’s contest offers a key opportunity. Stockton can solidify its standing, while Salt Lake City can halt its slide and gain a critical head-to-head advantage in the season series.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. PDT at Stockton Arena.
