Grand Rapids vs. South Bay

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (Interstat) — The surging South Bay Lakers host the struggling Grand Rapids Gold in a G League matchup on Friday, March 20, 2026, at the UCLA Health Training Center.

The game features a stark contrast in season trajectories. The Lakers (29-16) enter with one of the league’s best records, having won 10 of their last 12 games. The Gold (20-27) have lost four of their last five, including a 130-127 overtime heartbreaker to Oklahoma City on Tuesday.

South Bay is led by guard R.J. Davis, who is coming off a 29-point, 5-assist performance in an overtime loss at Rip City. Over his last 10 games, Davis has been a consistent offensive catalyst, scoring 20 or more points five times.

Grand Rapids will counter with forward DaRon Holmes, who has been a bright spot during the team’s slide. Holmes is averaging 23 points and 9.4 rebounds over his last five games. He posted a near triple-double with 22 points, nine rebounds and six assists in Tuesday’s narrow defeat.

In their most recent outings, both teams endured high-scoring overtime losses. South Bay fell 133-126 at Rip City despite 29 points from Davis and 24 from Malik Williams. Grand Rapids lost 130-127 to Oklahoma City, with Holmes leading the way and Javante McCoy adding 25 points and seven rebounds.

The Lakers’ home-court advantage has been significant, while the Gold have struggled on the road, losing three straight away from Michigan. The teams will meet again at the same venue on Saturday.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. PDT Friday.
