Mexico City vs. Sioux Falls
Preview: Capitanes, Skyforce Clash in Key G League Matchup
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Interstat) — A pivotal Western Conference matchup is set for Friday when the Mexico City Capitanes visit the Sioux Falls Skyforce at the Sanford Pentagon.
Both teams enter the contest looking to rebound from overtime losses in their most recent outings and solidify their playoff positioning. Mexico City (26-17) holds a narrow lead in the standings over Sioux Falls (25-21).
The Capitanes are coming off a 127-109 home loss to Memphis on Sunday, which snapped a three-game winning streak. Forward Jordan Minor, a player to watch, recorded a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds in that defeat. Minor has been a key contributor, including a 26-point, 9-rebound performance in a win over Noblesville on March 1.
Sioux Falls fell 123-121 in overtime to Stockton last Friday despite a monumental effort from standout Josh Christopher. The guard poured in 30 points, grabbed 13 rebounds and dished out six assists in the loss. Christopher has been on a scoring tear, averaging 30.4 points over his last five games, including a 49-point outburst against Osceola on March 1.
The Skyforce have shown a potent offense, scoring 120 or more points in seven of their last ten games. Mexico City has demonstrated resilience, winning five of its last seven contests.
This game marks the first of a back-to-back set between the teams, with a rematch scheduled in Sioux Falls on Saturday.
Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. local time Friday at the Sanford Pentagon.
