Austin vs. Noblesville

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (Interstat) — The Austin Spurs used a dominant rebounding performance and a series of timely runs to pull away from the Noblesville Boom for a 121-107 victory in a G League matchup Friday night at the Arena at Innovation Mile.

The game was a tale of efficiency and second chances. While both teams shot the ball effectively, Austin’s overwhelming work on the glass proved decisive. The Spurs grabbed 58 total rebounds, including 24 on the offensive end, leading to a 19-4 advantage in second-chance points. Noblesville managed only 34 total rebounds.

Austin’s Harrison Ingram led the charge with a double-double, scoring 26 points and securing 14 rebounds while adding five assists. Kyle Mangas added a game-high 28 points and nine rebounds for the Spurs, who improved to 32-14. Emanuel Miller contributed 18 points and seven rebounds.

For Noblesville, which fell to 20-28, Jordan Bell recorded a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Cameron Hildreth led the Boom with 19 points, while Keion Brooks and Samson Johnson each added 18 and 14 points, respectively.

The most important stretch of the game came late in the third quarter. After Noblesville’s Dakota Mathias hit a 3-pointer to pull the Boom within single digits, Austin responded with a decisive 11-2 run. The surge was capped by a Stanley Umude 3-pointer with 2:15 left in the period, extending the Spurs’ lead to 18 points and effectively stifling Noblesville’s momentum for good.

The Boom had started strong, taking a 36-35 lead after a frenetic first quarter that saw both teams shoot over 50% from the field. The game remained tight until Austin began to leverage its size and activity. A 12-4 run midway through the second quarter, fueled by offensive rebounds and transition opportunities, gave the Spurs a lead they would not relinquish.

Austin’s offensive rating of 132.8 on 91 possessions underscored its effective, if not always pretty, attack. The Spurs compensated for shooting 43.8% from the field by attempting 16 more shots than the Boom, a direct result of their plus-24 rebounding margin and a slight edge in turnovers forced.

Noblesville shot 50% from the floor but was hampered by its inability to secure defensive stops or rebounds, particularly during Austin’s key runs. The Boom also connected on only 9 of 28 attempts from 3-point range.

The two teams will meet again at the same venue Sunday.
