Austin vs. Noblesville

Preview: Austin Spurs at Noblesville Boom

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (Interstat) — A clash of G League teams heading in opposite directions will occur Friday when the Austin Spurs visit the Noblesville Boom at the Arena at Innovation Mile.

The Spurs (31-14) enter with one of the league’s best records but are looking to rebound from a 116-119 road loss to College Park on Tuesday. The Boom (20-27), meanwhile, have lost five of their last six games, including a 107-111 defeat at Greensboro on Wednesday.

Austin’s success has been fueled by forward Harrison Ingram, who is in the midst of a dominant stretch. Over his last 10 games, Ingram has averaged a double-double, including a 22-point, 17-rebound performance in the recent loss. His versatile playmaking will be a primary focus for the Noblesville defense.

The Boom will counter with guard Dakota Mathias, who is coming off a high-scoring back-to-back set against Westchester. Mathias poured in 31 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists in a win on March 14, followed by 28 points in a loss the next day. His scoring burst will be essential for a Noblesville team that has struggled to consistently get stops.

The teams’ season records highlight a stark contrast. Austin has proven capable of winning close games, with recent victories by one, two and three points. Noblesville has been involved in several high-scoring shootouts but has often come up short, with four of their last six losses coming by seven points or fewer.

This contest opens a quick two-game set between the clubs, who will meet again at the same venue on Sunday. For the Boom, it represents a critical opportunity to gain ground and disrupt a Western Conference power. For the Spurs, it’s a chance to reassert their form and continue a push toward the top of the standings.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. EDT Friday.
