College Park vs. Westchester

Preview of G League Game Between College Park and Westchester

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (Interstat) — Two teams at the bottom of the standings seeking momentum will meet when the College Park Skyhawks visit the Westchester Knicks in a G League contest on Thursday night.

The game at Westchester County Center will feature a pair of squads with nearly identical disappointing records. College Park (13-29) holds a slim edge over Westchester (12-31) in the overall standings. The Skyhawks won the only prior meeting this season, 116-111, at home on Dec. 3.

Both teams are coming off rare victories. College Park edged the Windy City Bulls 127-126 in overtime on March 10, while Westchester defeated the Noblesville Mad Ants 120-110 on March 15.

The matchup will highlight two of the league’s top recent performers. College Park point guard RayJ Dennis enters on a historic tear, averaging a triple-double over his last seven games with 21.4 points, 5.6 rebounds and 11.6 assists per contest. His run includes a 20-point, 12-rebound, 15-assist triple-double in the win over Windy City.

Westchester will counter with guard Kevin McCullar, who is coming off a 31-point, 11-assist performance in the win over Noblesville. Over his last five games, McCullar has averaged 19.6 points, 5.2 rebounds and 7.0 assists.

For College Park, center Asa Newell, who scored 29 points against Windy City, provides an interior complement to Dennis’s playmaking. Westchester’s frontcourt of Nick Jourdain and Trey Jemison, who combined for 30 points and 22 rebounds in the last game, will aim to control the paint.

The game is the first of a quick home-and-home set, with the teams scheduled to meet again in Westchester on Saturday. Both clubs are looking to build winning streaks in the season’s final weeks, making this a battle for pride and positive momentum heading into the offseason.
