Stockton vs. Valley

Stockton Kings Look to Extend Winning Streak Against Struggling Valley Suns

TEMPE, Ariz. (Interstat) — A clash between teams at opposite ends of the G League standings is set for Tuesday when the surging Stockton Kings visit the struggling Valley Suns at Mullett Arena.

The Kings (28-15) enter on a two-game winning streak, including a 106-104 road victory over Austin on Sunday. They sit among the Western Conference’s top teams. The Suns (12-33) are mired in a six-game losing skid, most recently falling 125-116 at Windy City on Saturday.

Stockton has dominated the recent head-to-head series, winning three of the last four meetings. Their lone loss this season came at Valley, 117-111, on Jan. 21. In the most recent matchup prior, the Kings cruised to a 123-105 win in Tempe on Nov. 30.

A key player to watch is Stockton forward Patrick Baldwin, who is coming off a dominant performance. In a 123-121 overtime win at Sioux Falls on March 13, Baldwin logged 37 minutes, scoring 31 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. He provides a significant matchup problem for Valley’s defense.

The Suns will rely on guard Zhuric Phelps, who has been a bright spot during their slump. He scored 27 points with 8 rebounds and 4 assists in the loss to Windy City. Sustaining that production against a tougher opponent will be critical for Valley’s chances.

The statistical service Interstat projects a lopsided affair, simulating a 122-100 victory for the visiting Kings.

For Stockton, the game begins a five-game road trip. Valley continues a homestand before traveling to San Diego on Thursday.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. MST on Tuesday, March 17.
