Westchester vs. Noblesville

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (Interstat) — The Westchester Knicks, fueled by a remarkably consistent offensive performance and a standout playmaking display from Kevin McCullar, snapped a two-game skid with a 120-110 victory over the Noblesville Boom in a G League contest Sunday at the Arena at Innovation Mile.

The Knicks, who entered the game with the league’s second-worst record, executed with precision throughout, scoring 29 points in each of the first three quarters before closing with 33 in the fourth to secure the win. This performance stood in stark contrast to the previous afternoon, where the Boom routed Westchester by 26 points.

The most important stretch of the game came early, as Westchester established a tone of control it would never fully relinquish. The Knicks opened the game on a 14-3 run, with McCullar scoring eight of those points. His early burst included a mix of mid-range jumpers and a three-pointer, overwhelming the Boom’s initial defensive sets. While Noblesville, led by Dakota Mathias and Keion Brooks, would chip away at the deficit throughout the afternoon, the early hole proved insurmountable. The Boom never led, and every attempt at a sustained rally was met with a timely response from Westchester.

McCullar was the central figure in the Knicks’ attack, serving as both a primary scorer and facilitator. His ability to create shots for himself and others kept the Boom defense off-balance. He consistently found teammates like Nick Jourdain and Paul Zilinskas for open three-pointers, with Zilinskas hitting several key shots from beyond the arc in the second half to stifle Boom runs. Trey Jemison provided a strong interior presence for Westchester, contributing with rebounds, blocks, and efficient finishing around the rim.

For Noblesville, Mathias and Brooks shouldered the offensive load. Mathias connected on multiple three-pointers to keep the Boom within striking distance, while Brooks attacked the paint effectively. However, the Boom struggled with efficiency on the perimeter and could not string together enough defensive stops to overtake the visitors. Key reserves like Cody Martin and R.J. Felton provided sparks, but the team’s overall shooting inconsistencies and 19 turnovers hampered the comeback effort.

The victory improved Westchester’s record to 12 wins and 31 losses, while Noblesville fell to 20-26. The result was an upset according to pregame analytics, which heavily favored the Boom at home.

The Knicks’ offense operated with a fluidity that belied their season-long struggles. Their ball movement, evidenced by 32 assists on their 46 made field goals, consistently generated high-quality looks. This systematic execution, initiated by McCullar’s command of the game from the opening tip, was the defining characteristic of the contest and the primary reason for the road victory.

Westchester next hosts College Park on Thursday. Noblesville travels to face Greensboro on Wednesday.
