Valley vs. Windy City

HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. (Interstat) — The Windy City Bulls will look to complete a quick two-game home sweep of the Valley Suns when the G League teams meet again at Sears Centre on Saturday.

The Bulls (20-23) held off the Suns 124-116 on Thursday night, overcoming a 40-point performance from Valley’s Sean McDermott. Windy City’s Mac McClung, the league’s reigning MVP, countered with 32 points and 12 assists in the victory.

Saturday’s rematch features two of the league’s most dynamic scorers in contrasting forms. McDermott arrives on a historic individual run, averaging 22.3 points, 5.8 rebounds and 4.3 assists over his last 10 games. He poured in a career-high 40 points in Thursday’s loss and followed that with 31 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists in a defeat at Wisconsin on Monday.

For Windy City, all eyes are on McClung, who is capable of explosive, highlight-reel performances. He is fresh off a staggering 54-point, 10-assist effort in an overtime loss to College Park on Tuesday, demonstrating his singular ability to take over a game.

The Bulls have struggled with consistency, however, losing three of their last four. Their defense, which allowed 137 points to Rio Grande Valley on Sunday, will be tested again by a Valley offense that scores 112.9 points per game but allows a league-worst 124.7.

The Suns (12-32) have lost eight of their last nine games and own the G League’s worst record. Their defense has been a persistent issue, but McDermott’s elevated play offers a bright spot. Containing McClung, who averages over 35 points per game against Valley this season, will be their primary challenge.

Following Saturday’s contest, Windy City hosts Wisconsin on Monday to begin a five-game road trip. Valley returns home to face Stockton on Tuesday, seeking to end a five-game losing streak.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. CST at Sears Centre.
