Osceola vs. Greensboro

GREENSBORO, N.C. (Interstat) — In a high-octane G League shootout that mirrored their overtime thriller from January, the Greensboro Swarm outlasted the Osceola Magic 127-120 on Friday night at Greensboro Coliseum Fieldhouse.

The Swarm, who improved their league-leading record to 32-13, used a dominant first half to build a cushion that proved just enough to withstand a persistent Osceola rally in the final minutes. The Magic fell to 28-15 with the loss.

Greensboro set the tone early with a blistering offensive display, pouring in 38 points in the opening quarter and adding 34 more in the second to take a 72-65 lead into halftime. The Swarm’s attack was balanced and efficient, consistently finding answers for every Osceola push.

Osceola, which had scored 120 or more points in six of its last seven games, found its rhythm in the second quarter with 33 points and stayed within striking distance throughout the second half. The Magic cut the deficit to single digits multiple times in the fourth quarter, capitalizing on a series of Greensboro turnovers.

The most critical sequence of the game came in the final minute with Osceola trailing by just five. After Greensboro’ Terrell Brown sank two free throws with 28 seconds left to make it 125-120, the Magic missed three consecutive 3-point attempts on their ensuing possession. Lester Quinones finally secured an offensive rebound and found Phillip Wheeler for a 3-pointer with 19 seconds remaining, pulling Osceola within 125-123.

The Swarm inbounded the ball to Jaylen Sims, who was immediately fouled. Sims calmly sank both free throws with 18 seconds left to restore a four-point lead. Osceola’s last-gasp effort resulted in another missed 3-pointer, and Greensboro secured the rebound to seal the victory.

The game was a showcase for several individual performances. Greensboro center P.J. Hall was a force on both ends, impacting the game with his scoring, rebounding and defensive presence. For Osceola, shooting guard Lester Quinones provided consistent offense and playmaking, while forwards Alex Morales and Justin Minaya contributed key baskets and defensive plays throughout the contest.

The Swarm’s backcourt of Terrell Brown and Marcus Garrett facilitated the offense and applied defensive pressure, combining for timely steals and assists. The win extended Greensboro’s home success and solidified its position atop the standings, while Osceola’s three-game winning streak was snapped.

The two teams split their season series, with each winning on its home floor. Both games were decided by a single possession in the final seconds, with Greensboro’s January victory requiring overtime.

According to Interstat’s ELO system, Greensboro entered the game with a 74% probability of winning. The Swarm’s performance, particularly their first-half explosion and clutch free-throw shooting late, justified that projection.

Osceola returns home to face Long Island on Sunday, while Greensboro prepares to host Noblesville next Wednesday.
