Osceola vs. Greensboro

Preview: Osceola Magic at Greensboro Swarm

GREENSBORO, N.C. (Interstat) — A pivotal G League matchup featuring two of the circuit’s top teams is set for Friday when the Greensboro Swarm host the Osceola Magic at Greensboro Coliseum Fieldhouse.

The Swarm (30-13) enter with the better overall record, but the Magic (27-14) arrive seeking to avenge a narrow overtime loss from their last meeting. Greensboro edged Osceola 125-123 on Jan. 17 in a game that could preview a potential postseason clash.

Greensboro is coming off a dominant 140-98 victory over Delaware on Tuesday, where P.J. Hall posted 22 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks. The center has been a force, averaging a double-double and registering four blocks in three of his last eight games. His interior presence, alongside forward Jaylen Sims who scored 31 points against Delaware, anchors the Swarm.

Osceola looks to rebound from a 119-112 home loss to Maine on that same Tuesday. Guard Lester Quinones led the Magic in that defeat with 24 points, seven rebounds and six assists, continuing a stellar individual run. Over his last nine games, Quinones is averaging 24.2 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists, providing consistent offensive firepower.

The game features a contrast in recent momentum. While Greensboro has won five of its last seven, Osceola has split its last 10 games, though it remains a formidable opponent with wins in three of its last five road contests.

Team defense may be the deciding factor. Greensboro’s blowout win showcased its high-octane offense, but the Swarm have also allowed an average of 118.3 points in their three losses this month. Osceola, which scores 115.2 points per game, has the backcourt weapons in Quinones and Justin Minaya (24 points vs. Maine) to test that defense.

Friday’s contest is the first of two remaining regular-season meetings between the affiliates of the Orlando Magic and Charlotte Hornets. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. EDT.
