Capital City vs. Cleveland

CLEVELAND (Interstat) — The Cleveland Charge used a dominant second quarter to pull away from the Capital City Go-Go and secure a 127-111 victory in a G League matchup Tuesday night at Wolstein Center.

The game, a rematch of a Capital City win just two days prior, turned decisively in the middle periods. After a competitive first quarter that ended with Cleveland leading 30-26, the Charge unleashed a 38-point second quarter barrage to take a commanding 68-56 halftime lead. The Go-Go, despite a game-high 22 points from point guard Kadary Richmond, could never recover from that deficit, as the Charge maintained at least a double-digit cushion throughout the entire second half.

The most important stretch of the game was Cleveland’s second-quarter surge, fueled by efficient ball movement and a balanced attack. Point guard Darius Brown was the catalyst, orchestrating the offense with precision. He finished the night with a triple-double, amassing 14 points, 10 rebounds and 14 assists, consistently breaking down the Capital City defense to create easy opportunities for his teammates.

Capital City, which fell to 21-23 with the loss, received strong performances from Richmond and Chris Livingston, who added 21 points. Skal Labissiere contributed a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds. However, the Go-Go’s defense had no answer for Cleveland’s multifaceted offense, which saw five players score 15 points or more.

Cleveland, now 27-15, showcased its depth. Alongside Brown’s masterful floor game, Malaki Branham scored 24 points, Riley Minix added 23, and both Tristan Enaruna and Sean McNeil chipped in 15 points apiece. The Charge shot efficiently from the field and shared the ball effectively, recording 38 assists as a team on their 47 made field goals.

The win allowed Cleveland to split the brief two-game homestand against Capital City after Sunday’s defeat. According to Interstat’s ELO system, Cleveland entered the game with a 75.10 percent probability to win, a projection they fulfilled with their potent offensive display.

Capital City’s next action is at home against Santa Cruz on March 17. Cleveland continues its homestand, hosting Santa Cruz for a two-game set starting Friday.
