Capital City vs. Cleveland
Preview of G League Game Between Capital City Go-Go and Cleveland Charge
CLEVELAND (Interstat) — The Cleveland Charge will seek immediate redemption when they host the Capital City Go-Go in a G League rematch Tuesday night at Wolstein Center.
The teams just met Sunday, with the visiting Go-Go (21-22) securing a 124-113 victory over the Charge (26-15). Tuesday’s contest offers Cleveland a swift opportunity to avenge that loss and halt Capital City’s modest two-game winning streak.
The Charge, who boast one of the league’s better records, had won five of six prior to Sunday’s defeat. They will again lean on forward Tristan Enaruna, who has been a consistent force. Enaruna is averaging 24.2 points and 7.2 rebounds over his last five games, including a 31-point, 10-rebound, 9-assist near-triple-double in a loss to Westchester on Feb. 21.
Capital City arrives with momentum, following Sunday’s win here and a 126-120 victory at Grand Rapids last Thursday. The Go-Go are powered by center Skal Labissiere, who is in the midst of a dominant stretch. Labissiere averaged 31.0 points and 9.5 rebounds in the two games against Grand Rapids last week, including a 34-point, 12-rebound performance on March 5. Over his last 10 contests, he is averaging 22.4 points and 7.7 rebounds.
The matchup in the frontcourt between Labissiere and Enaruna will be pivotal. Cleveland will aim to control the pace on its home floor after allowing 124 points in Sunday’s meeting. The Charge had been stellar defensively in their two games prior, holding Windy City to an average of 102 points in blowout wins.
For Capital City, building a winning streak has been a season-long challenge; they have not won three consecutive games since late January. A victory Tuesday would push them back to .500 and complete a rare two-game road sweep in Cleveland.
The Charge, who remain in contention for a high playoff seed, cannot afford a second consecutive home loss to a sub-.500 opponent. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. EDT.
