Texas vs. Salt Lake City
SALT LAKE CITY (Interstat) — The surging Salt Lake City Stars will look to solidify their playoff positioning when they host the struggling Texas Legends in a G League matchup on Monday, March 9, 2026, at the Delta Center.
The game features a stark contrast in the standings. The Stars (25-17) enter on a strong run, having won four of their last five games, including a 121-112 road victory over Valley on March 2. The Legends (14-26), meanwhile, have lost eight of their last ten, though they are coming off a 123-117 road win at Oklahoma City this past Saturday.
A key matchup will be at guard between two of the league’s most prolific scorers. Salt Lake City is led by point guard Max Abmas, who has been on a tear. Over his last six games, Abmas is averaging 26.8 points and 4.8 assists, including a 33-point, 6-rebound performance in a win over Oklahoma City on Feb. 19.
Texas will counter with the red-hot Dalano Banton. The shooting guard is coming off consecutive 30-point performances, dropping 37 points in a loss at Memphis on March 3 before his 33-point, 6-assist, 5-block effort in Saturday’s win. Jeremiah Robinson-Earl, who had 16 points and 13 rebounds in that victory, provides a critical interior presence for the Legends.
The Stars’ offense has been potent, scoring 123 points or more in four of their last five outings. Sean East, who paired with Abmas for 29 points apiece in the March 2 win, offers a dynamic secondary scoring option. Texas will need another high-level defensive effort, like the one that produced 11 blocks against Oklahoma City, to slow down Salt Lake City’s attack.
This contest is the first of a brief two-game series between the teams, with a rematch scheduled for Tuesday afternoon at the same venue. For the Stars, it’s a chance to build momentum before a four-game road trip. For the Legends, it’s an opportunity to build on their recent win and climb out of the Western Conference cellar.
Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. MST at Delta Center.
