Capital City vs. Cleveland

CLEVELAND (Interstat) — The Capital City Go-Go used a dominant second half to overcome an early deficit and defeat the Cleveland Charge 124-113 in a G League matchup Sunday at Wolstein Center.

The game’s pivotal shift came in the third quarter. After a high-scoring first half that saw the Charge lead 65-63, the Go-Go tightened their defense and seized control. Capital City outscored Cleveland 30-22 in the period, turning a narrow halftime edge into an 11-point lead heading into the fourth quarter. The Charge, who entered the game with a 26-14 record and were heavy favorites according to predictive models, could not recover from the defensive stand, never pulling closer than nine points in the final frame.

Capital City’s victory was fueled by balanced scoring and a significant advantage in ball movement. The Go-Go had six players score in double figures, led by a near triple-double from point guard Alondes Williams. Williams, the team’s top star, finished with 18 points, 10 rebounds and four assists in 36 minutes, continuing a run of strong performances.

He was complemented by a standout game from power forward Chris Livingston, an Akron, Ohio, native who posted 19 points and nine rebounds. Center Skal Labissiere added 21 points and six rebounds, while guard Kadary Richmond orchestrated the offense with 18 points and 11 assists.

Cleveland was led by Tristan Enaruna’s game-high 25 points. Olivier Sarr scored 16 points and Darius Brown contributed 18 points and 10 assists, but the Charge’s offense stalled after halftime, shooting poorly during the Go-Go’s decisive run.

The most important sequence of the game occurred late in the third quarter as Capital City built its cushion. With the Go-Go leading by six, a steal by Akoldah Gak led to a Chris Livingston 3-pointer. After a Cleveland turnover, consecutive 3-pointers from Damari Monsanto pushed the lead to 14, effectively breaking the game open and silencing the home crowd.

The win improved Capital City’s record to 21-22, while Cleveland fell to 26-15. The two teams will meet again in Cleveland on Tuesday.
