Rio Grande Valley vs. Windy City

HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. (Interstat) — The Rio Grande Valley Vipers delivered a dominant wire-to-wire performance, overwhelming the Windy City Bulls 137-100 in a G League contest Sunday at Sears Centre Arena.

The Vipers seized control from the opening tip, establishing a double-digit lead in the first quarter and never looking back. Their offensive execution was relentless, scoring at least 31 points in each period. A 40-point third quarter outburst effectively put the game out of reach, extending their advantage to a margin Windy City could not challenge.

The most important part of the game was the Vipers’ immediate and sustained defensive pressure, which fueled their early offensive surge. Rio Grande Valley opened the game with a 14-2 run, forcing multiple Windy City turnovers and missed shots on the Bulls’ first several possessions. This set a tone of defensive intensity that lasted throughout the afternoon, creating easy transition opportunities and allowing the Vipers to build a commanding 32-18 lead after the first quarter. Windy City never recovered from that initial deficit, as the Vipers’ consistent scoring and defensive activity prevented any sustained rally by the home team.

With the victory, Rio Grande Valley improved its season record to 25-16. Windy City fell to 19-22.

The Vipers continue their homestand Tuesday against Austin. The Bulls host College Park on Tuesday.
