Motor City vs. Greensboro
GREENSBORO, N.C. (Interstat) — A surging Greensboro Swarm squad looks to continue its dominant season when it hosts the .500 Motor City Cruise in a G League matchup Saturday at Greensboro Coliseum Fieldhouse.
The Swarm (29-11) enter as one of the league’s top teams but are coming off a rare 116-111 home loss to Long Island on Wednesday. They had won seven of their previous eight games, including a 35-point rout of Raptors 905 on Sunday. Point guard Terrell Brown has been instrumental, averaging 15.9 points and 6.1 assists over his last nine contests. He scored 24 points with six rebounds and five assists in the loss to Long Island.
Motor City (20-20) arrives after a 129-121 road victory over Oklahoma City on March 1, snapping a two-game skid. The Cruise have been inconsistent but are powered by center Isaac Jones, who is in the midst of a stellar stretch. Jones is averaging 26.5 points and 8.8 rebounds over his last four games, including a 31-point, 10-rebound double-double in the win over Oklahoma City.
Greensboro won the teams’ only meeting this season, 135-109, on Feb. 3. The Swarm will rely on their balanced attack, which in recent games has featured strong contributions from Liam McNeeley and P.J. Hall alongside Brown. Motor City will need another high-output performance from Jones and support from Wendell Moore Jr. (22 points vs. Oklahoma City) and Drew Peterson to challenge the conference leaders.
The teams are scheduled to meet again in Michigan on March 25. Following Saturday’s game, Greensboro hosts Delaware on Tuesday, while Motor City prepares for a home series against Noblesville starting March 10.
