Long Island vs. Greensboro

Preview: Long Island Nets at Greensboro Swarm

GREENSBORO, N.C. (Interstat) — The surging Greensboro Swarm will seek to avenge a recent loss and protect their home court when they host the Long Island Nets in a G League matchup Friday night at Greensboro Coliseum Fieldhouse.

The Swarm (29-11), who own one of the league’s best records, fell to the Nets 116-111 just two days prior on Wednesday. Greensboro had won eight of its previous nine games before that defeat.

Long Island (24-18) arrives with momentum from that victory, which snapped a two-game skid for the Nets. The teams have split their two meetings this season, with each winning on the other’s home floor in November.

A key rematch will be at point guard, where Long Island’s Malachi Smith and Greensboro’s Terrell Brown are coming off standout performances. Smith torched the Swarm for 30 points, six rebounds and six assists in Wednesday’s win. Over his last 10 games, he is averaging 18.6 points, 6.8 rebounds and 7.9 assists.

Brown countered with 24 points, six rebounds and five assists for Greensboro in the loss. He has been a catalyst during the Swarm’s successful stretch, averaging 15.6 points and 5.9 assists over his last 10 contests.

Long Island’s frontcourt also delivered Wednesday, with Chaney Johnson adding 17 points and seven rebounds and E.J. Liddell posting 17 points and nine boards. Greensboro received a strong performance from rookie Liam McNeeley (21 points) and a double-double from center P.J. Hall (12 points, 13 rebounds).

The Swarm have been dominant at home this season and will look to reassert that dominance before embarking on a road trip later this month. The Nets, currently in the middle of a stretch with seven of eight games on the road, aim to build a winning streak and improve their playoff positioning.

Friday’s game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. EST tip-off. Greensboro hosts Motor City on Saturday, while Long Island’s next game is not until March 15 at Osceola.
