Iowa vs. Rip City

PORTLAND, Ore. (Interstat) — The Iowa Wolves delivered a commanding wire-to-wire victory over the Rip City Remix, 122-95, in a G League matchup Monday night at Chiles Center, defying pregame projections that heavily favored the home team.

From the opening tip, the Wolves established a dominant tone, sprinting to a 37-point first quarter while holding the Remix to just 15. Iowa’s early surge was fueled by efficient offense and disruptive defense, building a lead that Rip City would never seriously threaten. The Wolves extended their advantage to 73-52 by halftime, showcasing a balanced and relentless attack.

The most critical phase of the game was unquestionably the opening period. Iowa’s immediate 22-point cushion allowed them to control the tempo and strategy for the remaining three quarters. The Remix, facing a steep deficit from the outset, were forced into a frantic, uphill battle. While Rip City managed a 37-point second quarter, it merely kept pace with Iowa’s 36, never cutting the lead to single digits. The Wolves’ defense, which forced numerous turnovers and contested shots throughout the night, effectively snuffed out any hope of a sustained comeback, holding Rip City to 17 points in the final quarter.

The victory improved Iowa’s record to 23-17, while Rip City fell to 22-17. The two teams are scheduled for a rematch in Portland on Wednesday.

Interstat’s ELO system had given the Remix a 69.5% probability of winning prior to the contest, a forecast rendered obsolete by Iowa’s emphatic performance. The Wolves’ recent results have been inconsistent, but Monday’s win marked a return to form, following a narrow victory over Mexico City and a loss to Stockton in their previous outings. Rip City entered the game having split a two-game series with Santa Cruz in late February.

Key performers for the Remix included Cameron Tyson, Caleb Love, Kalib Boone, Cameron Parker, Alex Reese, Andrew Carr, Jayson Kent and Liam Robbins. Jalen Crutcher was noted among the key performers for the Wolves.

The game’s statistical summary, including team shooting percentages from the floor, three-point range and the free throw line, was not immediately available.
