Salt Lake City vs. Valley

SALT LAKE CITY STARS AT VALLEY SUNS

TEMPE, Ariz. (Interstat) — A surging Salt Lake City Stars squad visits the struggling Valley Suns in a G League matchup Monday at Mullett Arena.

The Stars (24-17) enter on a two-game skid but have won seven of their last 10 contests. They are led by wing Justin Harmon, who is averaging 20.1 points over his last 10 games. Harmon scored 31 points in a narrow road loss to Mexico City last Tuesday and posted 23 points and seven rebounds in the preceding game against the same opponent.

Valley (12-27) snapped a three-game losing streak with a 112-105 road victory over Texas on Saturday. Forward C.J. Huntley powered that win with 20 points, 15 rebounds and five assists. Huntley has been a consistent force, recording a double-double in six of his last eight appearances. He tallied 22 points and 14 rebounds in the teams’ most recent meeting, a 123-120 Suns home victory on Feb. 12.

That result split the season series, as Salt Lake City won the two prior games in December by an average of 14.5 points. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 122-100 Stars victory Monday.

For Salt Lake City, Mohamed Bamba is coming off an 18-point, 14-rebound performance, while Max Abmas dished eight assists in the loss to Mexico City. Valley’s Khaman Maluach dominated the glass with 24 points and 17 rebounds in the win over Texas.

The Stars begin a six-game homestand after this contest, while the Suns embark on a six-game road trip starting Friday in Rip City.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. MST.
