Greensboro vs. Memphis
SOUTHAVEN, Miss. (Interstat) — The Greensboro Swarm used a dominant third-quarter surge to pull away from the Memphis Hustle and secure a 126-105 victory in a G League contest Tuesday night at the DeSoto Civic Center.
The game remained competitive through the first half, with Greensboro holding a narrow 58-54 lead at intermission. The Swarm, however, seized control decisively after halftime, outscoring the Hustle 39-17 in the third quarter. That period turned a close game into a lopsided affair, as Greensboro’s offensive execution and defensive pressure overwhelmed Memphis.
Greensboro’s scoring was balanced and consistent throughout the game, with quarters of 32, 26, 39 and 29 points. Memphis, after scoring 30 in the opening period, saw its offense stagnate, particularly during the pivotal third quarter where it managed only 17 points. A late fourth-quarter rally by the Hustle, in which they scored 34 points, did little to affect the outcome.
The victory improved Greensboro’s record to 27-10, solidifying its position as one of the league’s top teams. Memphis fell to 11-26 with the loss.
The most important sequence of the game occurred during Greensboro’s third-quarter explosion. After Memphis closed to within a few possessions early in the period, the Swarm unleashed a 21-4 run over a five-minute span. The run featured efficient scoring from multiple players, including a driving layup and free throw by Tosan Evbuomwan, a turnaround jumper by the same player, and a 28-foot 3-pointer from Tidjane Salaun that forced a Memphis timeout with the Swarm leading 90-65. This stretch effectively ended the competitive phase of the game, as Greensboro’s lead ballooned to 26 points by the end of the quarter. The Hustle committed several turnovers and missed a series of shots during this critical juncture, unable to match the Swarm’s intensity.
Jaylen Sims led the Greensboro effort with a efficient scoring performance, highlighted by several key three-pointers. For Memphis, Abou Ousmane provided interior presence, while Pierre Crockrell and Paul Watson contributed during various stages of the contest.
The game’s result aligned with pregame projections, as statistical models heavily favored the visiting Swarm.
Greensboro continues its road trip Saturday at Raptors 905. Memphis will look to rebound at home Thursday against the Wisconsin Herd.
