Raptors 905 vs. College Park

ATLANTA (Interstat) — In a game defined by relentless offense and a stunning fourth-quarter rally, the College Park Skyhawks overcame a double-digit deficit to defeat the Raptors 905 132-129 in a G League thriller Tuesday night at Gateway Center.

The victory, secured by a dominant 39-point final period from the Skyhawks, marked a dramatic reversal from both the teams’ season trajectories and pregame projections. The Raptors 905, owners of the league’s best record at 29-9, entered as overwhelming favorites but could not withstand College Park’s late surge, dropping their record to 29-10. The Skyhawks, now 11-27, secured one of their most impressive wins of the season.

The game’s most critical phase unfolded in the final minutes. Trailing for much of the night, College Park finally tied the game at 121 on a 27-foot 3-pointer by RayJ Dennis with 3:26 remaining. The Skyhawks then seized control with a 9-2 run, capped by a Basheer Jihad dunk off a Dennis assist with 1:45 left, putting College Park ahead 130-123.

Raptors 905, led by A.J. Lawson’s game-high 28 points, fought back. A.J. Hoggard hit a deep 3-pointer with 38 seconds left to cut the deficit to 130-129. After a stop, the Raptors had a chance to take the lead, but a Lawson fadeaway 3-point attempt missed with 24 seconds remaining.

College Park’s Isaih Moore secured the defensive rebound and was fouled, making one of two free throws. Following a Raptors timeout, Olivier Sarr buried a 25-foot 3-pointer at the buzzer for Raptors 905, but it only served to tighten the final margin after the outcome was decided.

The Skyhawks’ victory was fueled by exceptional performances from their starting frontcourt. Basheer Jihad, a power forward from Farmington, Michigan, dominated with 25 points and nine rebounds. Center Asa Newell recorded a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds. The backcourt tandem of RayJ Dennis, who tallied 22 points and 10 assists, and reserve forward Isaih Moore, who added 19 points and six rebounds off the bench, provided crucial balance.

For Raptors 905, Lawson’s 28-point outing continued a stellar individual stretch. He was supported by Julian Reese with 16 points and nine rebounds and Olivier Sarr with 13 points and nine rebounds. Hoggard facilitated the offense with nine assists.

The game was an offensive showcase from the start, with both teams shooting over 55% from the field and combining for 28 made 3-pointers. Raptors 905 held a narrow 63-60 lead at halftime and extended it to 95-93 heading into the fourth quarter before College Park’s decisive push.

The teams will meet again in a rematch at Gateway Center on Thursday. According to pregame analytics, Interstat’s game simulator had projected a lopsided 123-100 victory for Raptors 905, with its ELO system giving the visitors an 81.5% probability to win, making College Park’s comeback victory all the more improbable.
