Raptors 905 vs. College Park
G League Showdown Set for Atlanta as League-Leading Raptors 905 Visit Struggling Skyhawks
ATLANTA (Interstat) — A stark contrast in fortunes will be on display Tuesday when the G League’s top team, Raptors 905, visits the struggling College Park Skyhawks at Gateway Center.
The Raptors (29-8) enter riding a wave of success, having won eight of their last ten games, including a thrilling 141-138 road victory over Windy City on Saturday. They boast the league’s best record and have dominated the season series with College Park, winning two November meetings by an average of 34 points.
Conversely, the Skyhawks (10-27) own the league’s worst record and are mired in a prolonged slump, losing 14 of their last 16 contests. They are coming off a 149-118 defeat at Motor City on Sunday.
The matchup features two players on opposite trajectories. Raptors 905 guard Alijah Martin has been a model of consistency, scoring at least 15 points in seven straight games. He is coming off a standout performance of 26 points, seven rebounds and five assists in Saturday’s win.
For College Park, forward Basheer Jihad has shown flashes of high-level production but with less reliability. He erupted for 33 points, 11 rebounds and five blocks in a win over Motor City on Feb. 20, but followed it with a 10-point outing two days later in a blowout loss.
The Raptors’ offense has been explosive, surpassing 140 points in two of their last three games. Alongside Martin, A.J. Lawson (25 points Saturday) and Olivier Sarr (21 points) provide multiple scoring threats. College Park’s defense, which has allowed an average of 130.5 points over its last ten games, will face a severe test.
Interstat’s game simulator projects a lopsided result, favoring Raptors 905 by a score of 123-100.
Tuesday’s contest is the first of a two-game set between the teams in Atlanta, with a rematch scheduled for Thursday. Raptors 905 then return home to face Greensboro on Saturday, while College Park embarks on a road trip to Capital City.
