Birmingham vs. Capital City

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (Interstat) — The Birmingham Squadron will look to build on a recent upset victory when they visit the Capital City Go-Go in a G League matchup Tuesday night at CareFirst Arena in Washington, D.C.

The Squadron (14-26) enter on a high note after a 104-102 home win over Long Island last Friday, powered by a 21-point, 12-rebound double-double from center Hunter Dickinson. Capital City (18-19), meanwhile, aims to rebound from a narrow 128-125 overtime road loss to Noblesville last Saturday.

This contest is a quick rematch of a Feb. 7 thriller, which saw Birmingham edge Capital City 122-116 on the Go-Go’s home floor. Dickinson was instrumental in that victory, posting 20 points, 10 rebounds and three assists.

Dickinson, the focal point for Birmingham, has been in dominant form, recording a double-double in five of his last seven games. Over that stretch, he is averaging 19.1 points and 10.4 rebounds. His matchup in the paint will be critical against a Capital City team allowing 115.9 points per game.

The Go-Go will counter with high-scoring guard Keshon Gilbert, who is coming off a 34-point, 7-assist performance in the overtime loss to Noblesville. Gilbert has averaged 20.3 points and 6.6 assists over his last seven contests, providing the primary offensive spark for a Capital City squad fighting to stay above .500.

Birmingham’s recent form has been inconsistent, mixing impressive road wins with lopsided home losses. Capital City has also struggled for consistency, going 4-6 in its last 10 games. Both teams are near the bottom of their respective conference standings, adding urgency to secure a win before continuing lengthy road trips later this week.

The Squadron continue a six-game road swing after this contest, while the Go-Go embark on a four-game trip starting Thursday. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST.
