Osceola vs. Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (Interstat) — A surging Osceola Magic squad looks to continue its push atop the G League standings when it visits the struggling Grand Rapids Gold on Monday night at Van Andel Arena.

The Magic (22-11) enter with the second-best record in the league and have won seven of their last 10 games, despite a narrow 113-110 road loss to Capital City last Thursday. They will rely on guard Lester Quinones, who has been a consistent offensive force. Quinones is averaging 23.0 points over his last seven games, including a 22-point, six-rebound performance in the loss to Capital City.

Grand Rapids (17-18) has lost five of its last six and is coming off a high-scoring 124-119 defeat at Westchester on Thursday. In that game, guard Dane Goodwin erupted for a career-high 36 points, adding 10 rebounds and five assists. Goodwin’s performance highlighted a potent backcourt duo with Curtis Jones, who scored 37 points in the same contest. However, the Gold’s defense has been a persistent issue, allowing an average of 122.2 points during their recent 1-5 skid.

This matchup is a quick rematch of a game played just two days prior, on Saturday, where Osceola edged Grand Rapids 43-41 in a defensive struggle. Monday’s game is expected to feature a much faster pace.

The Magic’s balanced attack, led by Quinones and supported by recent contributions from Alex Morales and Justin Minaya, will test a Grand Rapids defense ranked near the bottom of the league. The Gold will need another stellar outing from Goodwin and Jones to keep pace and snap their home losing streak.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST. Following this contest, Osceola returns home for a two-game set against Cleveland, while Grand Rapids embarks on a three-game road trip starting Thursday at Long Island.
