Osceola vs. Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (Interstat) — A surging Osceola Magic squad will visit the .500 Grand Rapids Gold in a key G League matchup Saturday at Van Andel Arena.

The Magic (22-10) enter on a strong run, having won seven of their last eight games. Their most recent result was a 119-114 home victory over Noblesville on Feb. 6, led by guard Lester Quinones’ 26 points. Quinones has been a consistent offensive force, averaging 24.6 points over his last seven contests, including a 30-point, 11-rebound performance on Jan. 24.

Osceola’s offense has been potent, scoring 119 points or more in four of its last five outings. Reece Beekman, who dished out 10 assists in the Feb. 6 win, facilitates the attack.

The Gold (17-17) look to stabilize after a 2-4 stretch on a recent road trip. They fell 116-111 at Windy City on Feb. 12 despite a monstrous 26-point, 20-rebound, 5-block effort from center Moses Brown. Brown has been a dominant interior presence, recording four double-doubles in his last six games and averaging 24.7 points and 15.2 rebounds over that span.

Grand Rapids will need to contain Osceola’s high-scoring guard play while leveraging Brown’s size advantage. The Gold’s backcourt, featuring Curtis Jones who scored 23 points in the last game, must match the Magic’s perimeter production.

This contest is the first of a quick two-game set between the teams, who will meet again in Grand Rapids on Monday. It represents a classic clash of styles: Osceola’s high-octane backcourt versus Grand Rapids’ paint-anchored approach. A win would help the Gold climb above .500, while the Magic aim to solidify their position among the league’s top teams.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST Saturday.
