South Bay vs. Texas

FRISCO, Texas (Interstat) — The South Bay Lakers seized control with a blistering first quarter and never looked back, cruising to a 127-105 victory over the Texas Legends in a G League matchup Friday night at Dr Pepper Arena.

The Lakers set the tone immediately, erupting for 37 points in the opening period while holding the Legends to 24. That 13-point cushion proved insurmountable as South Bay led wire-to-wire, extending its advantage to 21 points by halftime and weathering a modest Texas push in the third quarter before pulling away again in the fourth.

South Bay’s offensive efficiency was the story, scoring 127 points on just 100 possessions for an offensive rating of 126.9. The Lakers shot 51.1% from the field, connecting on 46 of 90 attempts, and outrebounded Texas 55-45. The Legends, by contrast, struggled mightily with their shooting, making only 40 of 106 field goal attempts for a 37.7% clip and just 11 of 42 from three-point range.

Drew Timme led the Lakers with 25 points and eight rebounds in 29 minutes, continuing his strong play for South Bay. He was supported by a balanced effort that saw Adou Thiero add 19 points and seven rebounds, Malik Williams score 16 points with eight rebounds, and Augustas Marciulionis nearly record a triple-double with 13 points, seven rebounds and 10 assists.

Despite the loss, Texas point guard Ryan Nembhard delivered an impressive individual performance, tallying 25 points, six rebounds and 14 assists in 37 minutes. Jamarion Sharp anchored the defense with nine rebounds and six blocks to go with 16 points, and D’Moi Hodge scored 17 points.

The Legends made a concerted effort to rally in the third quarter, outscoring South Bay 31-22 behind Nembhard’s playmaking, but could not cut the deficit to single digits. The Lakers responded by pouring in 39 points in the final period to seal the win.

South Bay improved its season record to 19-15 with the victory, while Texas fell to 13-23. The two teams are scheduled to meet again Saturday night at Dr Pepper Arena.

The most important part of the game was the opening quarter, where South Bay established immediate and overwhelming control. The Lakers’ 37-point outburst, fueled by efficient shooting and active play, built a double-digit lead that Texas never seriously threatened. That early surge set the competitive template for the entire night, allowing South Bay to play from ahead with confidence and forcing the Legends into a persistent, and ultimately unsuccessful, game of catch-up.
