Cleveland vs. Noblesville
NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (Interstat) — In a high-octane G League showdown defined by runs and relentless pressure, the Cleveland Charge outlasted the Noblesville Boom 124-120 on Thursday night at the Arena at Innovation Mile.
The game’s decisive stretch came in the third quarter. After a back-and-forth first half that saw Noblesville take a 67-56 lead into the break, Cleveland unleashed a game-altering surge. The Charge opened the second half on a 15-3 run, fueled by defensive intensity that forced a series of Boom turnovers. Cleveland point guard Killian Hayes, who finished with 18 points and seven assists, was instrumental in the turnaround, contributing steals and assists to ignite the transition game.
That third-quarter burst, during which Cleveland outscored Noblesville 36-24, flipped the script entirely. It erased the home team’s double-digit advantage and gave the Charge a 92-91 lead heading into the final period, momentum they would never fully relinquish.
Cleveland’s victory was anchored by a dominant performance from center Riley Minix. He posted a massive double-double with 31 points and 16 rebounds, controlling the paint on both ends. Small forward Emanuel Miller matched Minix’s scoring output with 31 points of his own, adding four rebounds and two blocks. The Charge’s ball movement was superior, dishing out 20 assists to Noblesville’s 10, with Darius Brown facilitating 13.
Noblesville, which fell to 18-18, was led by center Gabe McGlothan’s 24 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Cameron Hildreth of Worthing, England, added 19 points, eight rebounds and six assists. The Boom shot a stellar 13 for 13 from the free-throw line and connected on 13 of 28 three-point attempts, but were undone by 24 turnovers, which Cleveland converted into 20 steals and numerous easy scoring opportunities.
Despite the Boom’s efficient shooting, Cleveland’s defensive pressure and ability to generate extra possessions proved critical. The Charge scored 124 points on 103 possessions, showcasing an offensive rating of 120.7, while also capitalizing on their 16 offensive rebounds.
The Boom made several pushes in the fourth quarter, closing to within a single possession multiple times in the final minutes. A driving layup by Jalen Slawson cut the Cleveland lead to 120-118 with just under a minute to play. However, Minix calmly sank two free throws with 1:10 remaining, and after Hildreth answered with two of his own, Hayes hit a crucial pull-up jumper to extend the lead back to four with 43 seconds left.
Noblesville had a chance to tie in the final seconds, but a contested three-point attempt by Hildreth missed, and Minix secured the final defensive rebound to seal the win.
With the victory, Cleveland improved to 23-12 on the season, sweeping a brief two-game road trip that began with a win over the Raptors 905. The Charge now head to Westchester for a two-game set beginning Saturday. Noblesville, which saw a two-game winning streak snapped, will host Capital City on Saturday.
