Osceola vs. Capital City

WASHINGTON (Interstat) — In a high-octane G League showdown defined by explosive runs and a relentless three-point assault, the Capital City Go-Go outlasted the Osceola Magic 113-110 on Thursday night at CareFirst Arena.

The game’s decisive stretch came in the frantic final minutes. After Osceola’s Lester Quinones hit a 24-foot three-pointer to tie the game at 110 with four minutes remaining, the Magic’s offense suddenly stalled. Capital City’s defense tightened, forcing critical stops. The Go-Go reclaimed the lead for good when Keshon Gilbert connected on a 26-foot three-pointer off an assist from Skal Labissiere with 1:50 to play, making it 113-110.

Osceola had multiple chances to draw even in the closing moments. Quinones missed a 22-foot three-pointer with 49 seconds left, and after a Labissiere turnover, he missed another from 27 feet at the buzzer as Capital City secured the narrow victory.

The game was ultimately won in the first quarter, where Capital City built a substantial lead that Osceola spent the rest of the night trying to overcome. The Go-Go erupted for 38 points in the opening period, fueled by a blistering 8-of-14 shooting performance from three-point range. Damari Monsanto was instrumental in the early barrage, hitting three three-pointers in the quarter’s first five minutes to help Capital City race ahead.

Osceola, undeterred, mounted a fierce response. The Magic poured in 34 points in the second quarter to cut into the deficit, trailing 66-56 at halftime. They continued to chip away, closing the gap to just three points entering the fourth quarter. The Magic’s effort was led by Quinones, who finished with 22 points and six rebounds. Phillip Wheeler added 16 points off the bench, and Alex Morales contributed 12 points and six assists.

Capital City’s victory was anchored by its backcourt. Gilbert, the point guard from St. Louis, led all scorers with 24 points, adding seven rebounds and five assists. Nolan Hickman provided crucial perimeter scoring with 18 points, all coming from beyond the arc on 6-of-13 shooting. The Go-Go’s ball movement was key, as they assisted on all but one of their 20 made three-pointers, finishing 20 of 44 from deep.

Labissiere, the center from Haiti, posted a well-rounded line of 12 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three blocks. Leaky Black nearly recorded a triple-double with nine points, 11 rebounds and seven assists.

Despite being outshot 48.8% to 42.4% from the field, Capital City’s superior efficiency from the three-point line and a 38-point first quarter proved insurmountable for Osceola. The Magic won the rebounding battle 47-46 and committed fewer turnovers, 12 to 16, but could not match the Go-Go’s early firepower or get the final shot to fall.

With the win, Capital City improves its season record to 17-18, while Osceola falls to 22-11. The Go-Go next travel to face the Noblesville Boom on Saturday. Osceola continues its road trip with a game against the Grand Rapids Gold on Saturday.
