Rip City vs. Birmingham

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (Interstat) — The Rip City Remix delivered an offensive masterclass from the opening tip, overwhelming the Birmingham Squadron 141-103 in a G League contest Thursday night at Legacy Arena.

The most important part of the game was its inception, as the Remix established immediate and total dominance with a devastating first-quarter performance. Rip City opened the game on a 17-0 run, holding Birmingham scoreless for nearly the first five minutes of play. The tone was set by a swarming defensive effort led by center Liam Robbins, who blocked three shots in the opening minutes, and a relentless offensive attack that capitalized on early Squadron turnovers.

The Remix led 36-17 after the first quarter, shooting 50% from the field while holding Birmingham to just 29% shooting. That 19-point cushion effectively decided the contest, as Birmingham never got the deficit below 15 points for the remainder of the night. The Squadron’s only sustained push came in a 40-point third quarter, but Rip City answered with 39 points of its own to maintain a commanding 104-79 lead entering the final period.

Rip City’s offensive execution was exceptional, finishing with an offensive rating of 143.0 points per 100 possessions. The Remix shot 50% from the field, including 46.7% from three-point range on 45 attempts. They also dominated the glass, outrebounding Birmingham 60-45.

Jaylen Martin led the Remix with 31 points, adding five rebounds. Sean Pedulla orchestrated the offense with 28 points and nine assists. Alex Reese recorded a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds, while Jayson Kent added 23 points. Point guard Cameron Parker facilitated brilliantly off the bench, dishing out 15 assists.

For Birmingham, Garrison Brooks provided a bright spot with a game-high 37 points and eight rebounds in 42 minutes. Christian Shumate added 25 points and 13 rebounds.

The win improved Rip City’s record to 21-15 across all competitions, while Birmingham fell to 13-25. The Remix next host the Santa Cruz Warriors on Feb. 22. Birmingham will host the Long Island Nets on Feb. 19.

According to Interstat’s ELO system, Rip City entered the game with a 62% probability to win, a projection they exceeded with a comprehensive wire-to-wire victory defined by their explosive start.
