College Park vs. Noblesville

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (Interstat) — In a game defined by relentless offense and a dramatic final minute, the Noblesville Boom edged the College Park Skyhawks 130-129 in a G League thriller Thursday afternoon at the Arena at Innovation Mile.

The contest, a stark contrast to the statistical projection that heavily favored the home team, was decided at the free-throw line in the closing seconds. With the score tied at 127 and 1.04 seconds remaining, Noblesville’s Jalen Slawson was fouled on a shooting attempt. Following a College Park coach’s challenge that upheld the call, Slawson calmly sank three consecutive free throws to put the Boom ahead 130-127.

College Park had a chance to tie in the final moments, but RayJ Dennis’s 18-foot fadeaway jumper missed as time expired, sealing the narrow victory for Noblesville.

The game was an offensive showcase from the outset, with both teams trading baskets at a blistering pace. Noblesville held a slim 33-26 lead after the first quarter, but College Park’s 34-point second quarter outburst gave the Skyhawks a 60-61 advantage at halftime. The Boom responded with a 38-point third quarter to reclaim a 99-93 lead heading into the final period.

The fourth quarter saw nine lead changes as neither team could secure a decisive advantage. The Skyhawks, led by Dennis’s relentless scoring, consistently answered Noblesville baskets. With under a minute to play and College Park trailing 125-127, Basheer Jihad converted a layup to tie the game, setting the stage for Slawson’s game-winning free throws.

Dennis was spectacular in defeat for College Park, scoring a game-high 47 points and dishing out 11 assists in 41 minutes. Jihad added 23 points and six rebounds, while Caleb Houstan contributed 18 points and eight rebounds.

For Noblesville, the victory was a product of balanced, efficient scoring. Cameron Hildreth, the shooting guard from Worthing, England, led the Boom with 34 points. Slawson, the team’s top star, finished with 29 points, seven rebounds and six assists, including the decisive free throws. Au’Diese Toney added 19 points, and Gabe McGlothan posted an 18-point, 10-rebound double-double.

Despite the loss, College Park’s offense was potent, posting an offensive rating of 126.4 points per 100 possessions. However, Noblesville was even more efficient, scoring 131.5 points per 100 possessions. The Boom’s advantage came from superior shooting inside the arc, converting 45 of 81 field goals overall compared to College Park’s 41 of 90, overcoming a significant deficit in three-point shooting.

The win improves Noblesville’s record to 18-17, while College Park falls to 9-26. The teams are scheduled to meet again in Noblesville on March 5.
