Capital City vs. Greensboro

GREENSBORO, N.C. (Interstat) — The Greensboro Swarm used a dominant third-quarter surge to pull away from the Capital City Go-Go and secure a 136-119 victory in a G League matchup Wednesday night at Greensboro Coliseum Fieldhouse.

The Swarm, who improved to 23-10, outscored the Go-Go 44-23 in the pivotal third period to turn a competitive game into a comfortable lead. That explosion came after a high-scoring first half that saw Greensboro take a 68-63 advantage into the break.

Antonio Reeves led the offensive charge for the Swarm, scoring 31 points. His backcourt mate, Marcus Garrett, added 20 points, while D.J. Rodman contributed 19 off the bench. The Swarm’s interior presence was formidable, with Jonas Aidoo recording a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds, and Ibou Badji adding eight points, six rebounds and two blocks.

Despite the loss, Capital City’s Skal Labissiere delivered a standout performance with 35 points and 10 rebounds. Alondes Williams orchestrated the offense with a double-double of 21 points and 10 assists, and Damari Monsanto provided a scoring spark with 26 points.

The game’s most important sequence unfolded early in the third quarter. Leading by just five, the Swarm opened the period on a 14-4 run, capped by a Terrell Brown layup that pushed their lead to 82-70. The Go-Go could not stem the tide as Greensboro continued to score efficiently, shooting 51 for 89 from the field for the game. The Swarm’s 44-point quarter effectively decided the contest, building a 112-86 lead entering the final frame.

Greensboro’s offense operated at a historic pace, posting an offensive rating of 153.5 points per 100 possessions. The Swarm also controlled the glass, outrebounding Capital City 46-30, which led to a 25-9 advantage in second-chance points.

Capital City, which fell to 16-17, shot well from beyond the arc, making 16 of 32 attempts, but was hampered by 10 turnovers and 24 personal fouls. The teams are scheduled for a quick rematch in Greensboro on Thursday night.

The victory extended Greensboro’s successful season, while Capital City has now lost two of its last three games.
