Raptors 905 vs. Cleveland

CLEVELAND (Interstat) — In a frantic, high-scoring G League affair that saw 19 lead changes and 15 ties, the Cleveland Charge outlasted the visiting Raptors 905 126-122 on Tuesday night at Wolstein Center. The game was decided in a chaotic final 38 seconds that featured three turnovers, two clutch three-pointers and a series of pressure free throws.

The most critical sequence began with Cleveland clinging to a 122-120 lead. Raptors 905 guard A.J. Lawson stole an inbound pass from Cleveland’s Darius Brown and immediately sank a 24-foot three-pointer to put Toronto ahead 123-122 with 38 seconds remaining.

The lead was short-lived. On the ensuing possession, Cleveland’s Riley Minix was fouled and calmly sank both free throws to restore a one-point edge for the Charge. After a Toronto timeout, Cleveland’s defense held as Tristan Enaruna blocked Tyson Degenhart’s shot in the lane. David Roddy grabbed the offensive rebound and scored to put Raptors 905 back up 124-123 with 13 seconds left.

Cleveland advanced the ball and found Emanuel Miller, who was called for an offensive foul, turning the ball over with nine seconds left. Given a chance to seal it, Raptors 905’s Jarkel Joiner missed a three-pointer. In the ensuing scramble for the rebound, Degenhart committed a loose ball foul, sending Minix back to the line with four seconds left. Minix made both free throws to give Cleveland a 125-124 lead.

Needing a basket, Raptors 905’s final inbounds play broke down, resulting in a Roddy turnover. Minix was fouled again and made one final free throw to provide the final margin.

The wild finish capped a game where neither team led by more than 14 points. Cleveland built an early advantage behind a dominant first quarter from Norchad Omier, who scored 14 points and grabbed five rebounds in just eight minutes. The Charge led 73-56 at halftime, powered by efficient offense that saw them shoot 16 for 43 from three-point range for the game and dish out 26 assists against only 13 turnovers.

Raptors 905 mounted a fierce second-half comeback, outscoring Cleveland 66-53 after the break. They exploded for 40 points in the fourth quarter, largely behind the efforts of Jonathan Mogbo. The power forward finished with a game-high 35 points on 15-for-24 shooting, adding seven rebounds, three blocks and three steals. His relentless work inside keyed the rally that erased what was once a 17-point deficit.

Cleveland was led by Tristan Enaruna, who scored 22 points, including two critical three-pointers and several key baskets in the fourth quarter to stem Toronto rallies. He added five rebounds and three blocks. Killian Hayes contributed 19 points and seven assists, while Darius Brown orchestrated the offense with 14 assists.

For Raptors 905, David Roddy recorded a 17-point, 15-rebound double-double, and Alijah Martin added 18 points and five assists. Despite shooting a higher percentage from the field (49.5% to 46.7%) and winning the rebounding battle 41-39, Toronto was undone by 18 turnovers and a significant disparity at the free-throw line, where Cleveland made 18 of 23 attempts compared to Toronto’s 8 of 14.

With the win, Cleveland improved to 21-12 across all competitions. Raptors 905, who entered the game with the league’s best record, fell to 27-7. The two teams will meet again in Cleveland on Thursday.
