Raptors 905 vs. Cleveland
Preview: Raptors 905 at Cleveland Charge
CLEVELAND (Interstat) — The NBA G League’s top team visits one of its hottest players Tuesday when the Raptors 905 face the Cleveland Charge at Wolstein Center.
The Raptors (27-6), affiliate of the Toronto Raptors, own the league’s best record and are riding a three-game winning streak following a 112-99 victory over Motor City on Sunday. Their .818 win percentage sets a formidable standard.
Cleveland (20-12), the affiliate of the Cleveland Cavaliers, has won seven of its last 10 games despite a 123-110 home loss to Greensboro on Saturday. The Charge boast one of the league’s most dominant individual forces in forward Norchad Omier.
Omier enters on a historic tear, averaging 26.0 points and 16.3 rebounds over his last three games. That stretch includes a 26-point, 20-rebound performance in a 156-126 rout at College Park on Feb. 4. For the season, he is a nightly double-double threat and the focal point of the Charge offense.
The Raptors counter with forward David Roddy, who is coming off a 26-point effort in Saturday’s 125-124 win over Grand Rapids. Over his last 10 games, Roddy has shown versatile production, averaging 14.0 points, 7.7 rebounds and 4.6 assists while serving as a primary facilitator.
This matchup is the first of a two-game set between the teams this week, with a rematch scheduled for Thursday at the same venue. It pits Toronto’s league-best defense, allowing just 106.2 points per game, against a potent Cleveland offense averaging 122.8 points.
The Raptors’ road record (12-4) is the best in the G League, but they face a Cleveland team that is 11-4 at home. The Charge will need to contain Toronto’s balanced attack and rebound effectively to slow the league leaders.
Tuesday’s tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST.
