San Diego vs. Memphis
Preview: San Diego Clippers at Memphis Hustle
SOUTHAVEN, Miss. (Interstat) — The surging San Diego Clippers visit the struggling Memphis Hustle in a G League matchup Sunday at the DeSoto Civic Center.
San Diego (17-16) enters having split a two-game road series against Salt Lake City, falling 128-120 in overtime Wednesday after a 140-139 victory Monday. The Clippers have won four of their last seven.
Memphis (10-20) looks to halt a two-game skid after a 135-105 road loss to Motor City on Tuesday. The Hustle have dropped eight of their last 10 contests.
The game features a contrast in backcourt momentum. San Diego point guard Jaelen House arrives on a stellar run, averaging 24.3 points and 9.0 assists over his last four games. He posted 28 points and nine assists in Wednesday’s overtime loss.
Memphis will counter with forward Nate Hinton, who has been a consistent bright spot. He is averaging 19.1 points and 5.4 rebounds over his last eight outings, including a 28-point, seven-rebound performance at Iowa on Jan. 24.
In the frontcourt, San Diego’s Patrick Baldwin Jr. is coming off a 26-point, 12-rebound effort Wednesday. Memphis center Lawson Lovering recorded a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds in the team’s last game.
The teams met just two days prior on Friday in Memphis, with details of that contest unavailable. Sunday’s rematch offers the Hustle a quick chance for redemption at home, where they are 6-9 this season.
Interstat’s game simulator projects a San Diego victory, 121-100.
Following Sunday’s game, the Clippers begin a road trip at South Bay on Wednesday. The Hustle continue a homestand, hosting Santa Cruz on Wednesday and Thursday.
