Noblesville vs. Long Island

UNIONDALE, N.Y. (Interstat) — The Long Island Nets used a dominant second and third quarter to pull away from the Noblesville Boom and secure a 110-94 victory in a G League matchup on Sunday at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

The Nets, improving to 19-15, built a double-digit lead by halftime and never looked back, outpacing the Boom with superior ball movement and shot-making during the middle periods. Noblesville fell to 16-17 with the loss.

Long Island established control with a 33-point second quarter, extending a 61-55 halftime advantage. The Nets then matched that output with another 33-point third quarter, stretching their lead to 94-77 entering the final frame. The Boom’s offense, which managed 55 points in the first half, stalled after halftime, scoring just 22 points in the third quarter. Noblesville’s 17 points in the fourth were not enough to mount a comeback against a consistent Long Island attack.

The most critical segment of the game occurred late in the second quarter and early in the third, when Long Island transformed a narrow contest into a comfortable lead. After Noblesville’s Au’Diese Toney hit a running jumper to cut the Nets’ lead to 59-61 with 22 seconds left in the half, Long Island’s Malachi Smith made one of two free throws. The Nets then opened the third quarter with immediate force, as Tyson Etienne and Nate Williams connected on consecutive three-pointers. A steal and score by Smith capped a rapid 8-0 run spanning the halves, pushing the lead to 69-61 and forcing an early Noblesville timeout just over a minute into the third quarter.

The Boom never recovered from that burst. Long Island’s offense continued to operate efficiently, with Smith orchestrating the attack and finding teammates like E.J. Liddell and Grant Nelson for open shots. The Nets’ lead ballooned to 21 points late in the third quarter after a three-pointer by Trevon Scott made it 92-71, effectively sealing the outcome.

Smith, the Long Island point guard, was instrumental in the win, facilitating the offense and contributing key baskets during the decisive runs. Power forward Jalen Slawson led the effort for Noblesville, providing activity on both ends, but the Boom struggled with turnovers and could not match the Nets’ sustained offensive execution.

The two teams will meet again at the same venue on Tuesday.
