Greensboro vs. Cleveland
CLEVELAND (Interstat) — In a high-octane G League showdown Saturday night, the Greensboro Swarm avenged a narrow loss from the previous evening by defeating the Cleveland Charge 123-110 at Wolstein Center.
The Swarm, who fell 140-135 in Cleveland on Friday, seized control with a dominant first-half offensive display and never trailed, improving to 22-10. The Charge dropped to 20-12.
The most critical phase of the game was the second quarter, where Greensboro transformed a competitive contest into a commanding lead. Leading 30-22 after one period, the Swarm erupted for 38 points in the second quarter, fueled by the explosive scoring of guard Terrell Brown. Greensboro shot 54.2% from the field in the period and pushed its lead to 68-52 by halftime. That 16-point cushion proved insurmountable for Cleveland, which could not cut the deficit to single digits at any point in the second half.
Greensboro’s offensive efficiency was the story, scoring 123 points on 99 possessions for an offensive rating of 124.8. The Swarm shot 54.2% from the field and connected on 13 of 29 three-point attempts. Cleveland, by contrast, struggled from deep, making only 10 of 39 attempts from beyond the arc.
Terrell Brown, named the top star for Greensboro, led all scorers with 27 points in just 27 minutes, adding five assists and four rebounds. His performance marked a significant bounce-back after scoring 17 points in 16 minutes during Friday’s loss. He was supported by balanced scoring: Jaylen Sims scored 22 points, Keyontae Johnson added 19 points, nine rebounds and five assists, and Antonio Reeves contributed 15 points.
Cleveland was paced by a massive double-double from center Norchad Omier of Bluefields, Nicaragua, who finished with 24 points and 16 rebounds. Riley Minix scored 22 points with eight rebounds and five assists, and Emanuel Miller also scored 22 points.
Despite being outrebounded 44-43 and committing one more turnover than Cleveland, Greensboro’s superior shooting and early burst proved decisive. The teams were even with 11 assists and 11 steals apiece.
The Swarm’s victory splits a two-game road set in Cleveland and provides momentum heading into a five-game homestand beginning Wednesday against Capital City. The Charge will look to regroup when they host Raptors 905 on Tuesday. Interstat’s ELO system had given Cleveland a 57.6% probability to win prior to the game.
