Greensboro vs. Cleveland

Preview of G League Game Between Greensboro and Cleveland

CLEVELAND (Interstat) — Two of the Eastern Conference’s top teams will meet for the second consecutive night when the Cleveland Charge host the Greensboro Swarm in a G League matchup Saturday at Wolstein Center.

The teams played to a 113-113 tie Friday night. League rules do not permit overtime in the regular season after a single overtime period if the score remains level.

Saturday’s rematch features the Swarm (21-9), who hold one of the league’s best records, against the surging Charge (19-11). Cleveland has won seven of its last nine games, including a 156-126 road victory at College Park on Wednesday, one of the highest-scoring outputs in the league this season.

A key matchup will be in the frontcourt between two of the G League’s most productive forwards. Greensboro’ Tidjane Salaun is coming off a dominant performance Monday, scoring 25 points and grabbing 14 rebounds in a 126-103 win over Windy City.

He will be challenged by Cleveland’s Norchad Omier, who is in the midst of a historic stretch. Omier is averaging a double-double and recorded a 26-point, 20-rebound game Wednesday, his eighth double-double in his last ten contests. Over that span, he is averaging 21.2 points and 12.6 rebounds.

Greensboro has been strong on the road this season, with recent wins at Birmingham and Grand Rapids. The Swarm’s offense, which put up 126 points in its last outing, will test a Cleveland defense that has allowed an average of 121.3 points over its last three games.

The Charge counter with a high-powered attack led by Omier and guard Killian Hayes, who dished out 18 assists in Wednesday’s win. Cleveland has scored 131 points or more in four of its last five victories.

Saturday’s result could have implications for the conference standings, with both teams jockeying for playoff position as the season enters its final months.
