Westchester vs. Salt Lake City
SALT LAKE CITY (Interstat) — The Salt Lake City Stars used a dominant third-quarter surge to pull away from the Westchester Knicks and secure a 131-107 victory in a G League matchup Friday night at Bruin Arena.
The game remained competitive through the first half, with the Stars holding a 60-58 lead at intermission. Westchester, led by early efforts from Isaiah Roby and Bryson Warren, kept pace by shooting efficiently in the opening quarters, scoring 30 and 28 points respectively. Salt Lake City, however, maintained a slim edge behind a balanced attack.
The contest was decisively transformed in the third quarter. The Stars erupted for 42 points, overwhelming the Knicks with a combination of interior scoring and perimeter shooting. The period featured a sustained run that stretched a two-point halftime lead into a commanding 102-82 advantage heading into the final frame. Salt Lake City’s ball movement and shot creation proved too much for the Westchester defense during this pivotal stretch.
Westchester, which fell to 7-25 with the loss, could not mount a comeback in the fourth quarter. The Knicks’ offense, which managed only 22 points in the third, was unable to consistently cut into the large deficit against a Stars team that continued to execute.
Salt Lake City, improving to 21-14, showcased its depth throughout the game. Key performances included significant contributions from Matthew Cleveland and Mohamed Bamba, whose activity on both ends fueled the Stars’ transition game and rim protection. For Westchester, Dink Pate and Bryson Warren provided offensive sparks, but the team struggled to contain Salt Lake City’s high-powered attack, particularly after halftime.
The Stars’ victory aligned with pregame statistical projections that heavily favored the home team. The two teams are scheduled for a rematch at Bruin Arena on Saturday night.
Westchester’s road trip continues with a game against the Valley Vipers on Tuesday. Salt Lake City will host the Knicks again Saturday before embarking on a road game at Valley next Thursday.
