Long Island vs. Windy City

Preview: Long Island Nets at Windy City Bulls

HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. (Interstat) — The Windy City Bulls will seek immediate redemption when they host the Long Island Nets for a second consecutive game on Friday night at Sears Centre, less than 24 hours after a lopsided defeat.

The Nets (18-14) dominated Thursday’s meeting, securing a 143-123 road victory to solidify their position above .500. The Bulls (15-15), meanwhile, will aim to halt a two-game skid and level their record in the NBA G League contest.

Long Island’s backcourt catalyst, Malachi Smith, enters the rematch in strong form. He is averaging 18.1 points, 5.5 rebounds and 6.1 assists over his last 10 games, including a 25-point, 7-rebound, 8-assist performance in Monday’s win over Grand Rapids. His playmaking will be central to the Nets’ offense.

Windy City will counter with forward Kevin Knox, who has been a consistent scoring and rebounding force. Knox is averaging 23.9 points and 9.6 rebounds over his last seven outings. He posted 27 points in Monday’s loss at Greensboro and a 29-point, 10-rebound double-double in a win at Greensboro on Jan. 30.

The Bulls’ defense will be under scrutiny after allowing a season-high in points Thursday. Containing Smith and improving transition defense will be paramount.

Following Friday’s game, Long Island returns home to host Noblesville on Sunday. Windy City begins a brief hiatus before hosting Grand Rapids next Wednesday.
