Grand Rapids vs. Long Island

Preview: Gold Visit Nets in Key G League Matchup

UNIONDALE, N.Y. (Interstat) — Two teams jockeying for position in the G League standings will meet Monday when the Grand Rapids Gold visit the Long Island Nets at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

The Gold (16-13) enter on a high note after a 122-119 overtime road victory against Maine on Thursday. Guard Dane Goodwin led the way with 25 points and 12 rebounds, continuing a stretch of dominant performances. Over his last five games, Goodwin is averaging 24.8 points and 7.6 rebounds, establishing himself as Grand Rapids’ primary offensive engine.

Long Island (16-14) looks to rebound after a narrow 106-104 home loss to Motor City on Wednesday. Guard Terry Roberts filled the stat sheet in that defeat with 11 points, seven rebounds and eight assists. Roberts has been a key facilitator for the Nets, dishing five or more assists in four of his last seven appearances.

The season series adds an early layer of intrigue, as the teams are scheduled to meet again in Uniondale on Feb. 26. Monday’s contest could set the tone for that rematch and impact the tight playoff picture.

Grand Rapids has shown a potent but inconsistent offense, scoring 122 points or more in three of its last four games but also surrendering 125 or more in three of its last six outings. Alongside Goodwin, Javante McCoy (25 points, eight assists vs. Maine) and Kessler Edwards (16 points, 11 rebounds) provide additional scoring punch.

The Nets have split their last six games and will rely on home-court advantage to stabilize their record. Beyond Roberts, Jeenathan Williams (18 points, 10 rebounds vs. Motor City) and David Muoka (14 points, five rebounds) offer consistent production.

Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. EST on Feb. 2. Following this game, Grand Rapids begins a two-game series at Raptors 905 on Thursday, while Long Island opens a road back-to-back at Windy City on Thursday and Friday.
