Memphis vs. Motor City

Preview: Memphis Hustle at Motor City Cruise

WALKER, Mich. (Interstat) — The Memphis Hustle and Motor City Cruise, two teams trending in opposite directions, meet Sunday at DeltaPlex Arena in a G League matchup.

The visiting Hustle (9-19) aim to halt a prolonged skid, having lost 10 of their last 12 games. They are coming off a 131-117 road loss to the Cleveland Charge on Friday. Forward Tyler Burton was a bright spot in that defeat, scoring 29 points with eight rebounds. Burton has been a consistent offensive force, averaging 21.6 points over his last eight contests, including a 37-point outburst at Iowa on Jan. 24.

Conversely, the Cruise (14-16) have found momentum, winning five of their last seven to climb toward .500. They edged the Long Island Nets 106-104 on Wednesday, powered by a dominant performance from forward Isaac Jones. Jones posted 32 points, 15 rebounds and a staggering seven blocks in the victory, highlighting a recent stretch where he has averaged 19.0 points, 10.6 rebounds and 3.1 blocks over his last seven games.

The matchup between Burton and Jones will be pivotal. Memphis, which allows a league-worst 124.1 points per game, will need to find an answer for Jones’ interior presence and Motor City’s efficient offense. The Cruise have scored at least 106 points in nine consecutive games.

Motor City won the teams’ only meeting last season. These teams will meet again at DeltaPlex Arena just two days after Sunday’s contest, on Tuesday, Feb. 3.

Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m. EST.
