Westchester vs. Osceola
KISSIMMEE, Fla. (Interstat) — The Osceola Magic weathered an early offensive barrage from the Westchester Knicks and used a dominant second quarter to fuel a 110-102 victory in the NBA G League on Thursday night at Silver Spurs Arena.
The game turned decisively in the second period. After a blistering first quarter that saw Westchester shoot 60% from the field and score 39 points to take an 11-point lead, the Magic defense stiffened. Osceola outscored the Knicks 34-15 in the quarter, capitalizing on a cold spell that saw Westchester miss 15 of its 20 shot attempts. The Magic connected on six three-pointers in the frame, erasing the deficit and building a 62-54 halftime advantage they would not relinquish.
Alex Morales led Osceola with 20 points and 12 rebounds, continuing a strong stretch of play for the power forward. Ja’Vonte Smart provided a critical scoring spark off the bench, netting 27 points, including five three-pointers. His back-to-back three-pointers late in the second quarter helped stretch the Magic lead, and he hit another key triple with under three minutes to play to push the lead to 10 points.
Westchester was led by Pacome Dadiet’s 26 points and 12 rebounds, while Dillon Jones also scored 27 points and dished out five assists. The Knicks’ early success was fueled by hot three-point shooting, but they finished the game just 12 for 48 from beyond the arc. Their 42 overall field goals came on 93 attempts, a 45.2% shooting night that was undermined by their volume and inefficiency from deep.
Osceola, by contrast, was more efficient from the floor, shooting 47.4% on 37-of-78 shooting. They also outperformed Westchester from the three-point line, making 16 of 36 attempts, and from the free-throw line, converting 11 of 14 compared to the Knicks’ 4 of 9.
The Magic improved to 20-9 with the win, solidifying their position near the top of the league standings. The Knicks fell to 6-23, losing for the second time in five days to Osceola after a 124-103 defeat on Saturday.
Despite the final margin, Westchester made several pushes in the second half. They cut a 16-point third-quarter deficit to five early in the fourth, but Osceola responded with a 9-0 run, highlighted by steals and transition scores from Morales, to rebuild a double-digit cushion. The Knicks got within eight points multiple times in the final minutes but could not string together enough stops to complete the comeback.
Osceola’s Lester Quinones filled the stat sheet with 13 points, nine rebounds and six assists. For Westchester, Dink Pate contributed 17 points and seven assists.
The most important sequence of the game occurred midway through the fourth quarter with Osceola leading 85-80. Over a 90-second span, the Magic forced three consecutive Westchester turnovers, converting each into fast-break layups by Alex Morales. That personal 6-0 run extended the lead to 11 points and effectively halted the Knicks’ final sustained rally, allowing Osceola to control the game’s closing minutes.
