Windy City vs. Oklahoma City
OKLAHOMA CITY (Interstat) — The Windy City Bulls used a dominant first quarter to build a substantial early lead and never trailed, defeating the Oklahoma City Blue 116-103 in a G League matchup Monday night at Cox Convention Center.
The Bulls seized control from the opening tip, racing to a 36-point first quarter while holding the Blue to just 17. Windy City’s early burst, which featured a 19-2 run, created a deficit Oklahoma City could not overcome despite a competitive second half.
Windy City’s offensive execution was sharp from the start, with Mac McClung orchestrating the attack. The Bulls’ lead ballooned to 23 points late in the first quarter before Oklahoma City began to find its footing. The Blue responded with a 32-point second quarter, led by Anthony Pritchard and Buddy Boeheim, to cut the deficit to 60-49 by halftime.
The third quarter saw the Bulls maintain their composure. Each time Oklahoma City threatened to close the gap, Windy City answered with a timely basket, often from McClung or Kevin Knox, to keep the advantage in double digits. The Blue managed to outscore the Bulls in the final period but never got closer than the 13-point final margin.
The most important part of the game was unquestionably the first quarter, where Windy City’s explosive start decided the contest’s trajectory. The Bulls’ 36-17 opening frame, fueled by defensive stops and efficient transition play, established a tone of control. Oklahoma City’s subsequent efforts were effectively spent trying to climb out of that early hole rather than competing for the lead.
With the win, Windy City evened its season record to 13-13. Oklahoma City fell to 8-21.
The two teams will meet again in Oklahoma City on Wednesday.
