Windy City vs. Oklahoma City
Windy City Bulls, Oklahoma City Blue Set for G League Showdown
OKLAHOMA CITY (Interstat) — The Windy City Bulls visit the Oklahoma City Blue on Monday night in a G League matchup featuring two teams trending in opposite directions.
The Bulls (12-13) arrive at Cox Convention Center looking to steady themselves after a 104-114 road loss to Westchester on Friday. Despite the defeat, forward Kevin Knox continued his dominant stretch, scoring 21 points with seven rebounds. Knox has been a consistent force, averaging 22.6 points and 9.4 rebounds over his last eight games, including a 28-point, 16-rebound performance in a win at San Diego on Jan. 15.
Windy City’s offense has been potent but inconsistent, scoring 129 and 131 points in wins earlier this month but also surrendering 141 and 138 in losses.
They face a Blue squad (7-20) that snapped a five-game skid with a 113-109 road victory over San Diego on Friday. Oklahoma City was led by Bryce Thompson, who poured in 28 points. The swingman has shown explosive scoring ability, dropping 37 points against Austin on Jan. 20 and 33 in a win at Valley on Jan. 6, but the Blue have struggled to find consistent success.
Defense has been a primary issue for Oklahoma City, which has allowed 123 or more points in five of its last ten games, including a 106-71 home loss to Santa Cruz on Jan. 4.
The matchup between Knox and Thompson will be a key focal point. Knox provides a versatile inside-out scoring and rebounding presence for Windy City, while Thompson carries the bulk of the scoring load for the home team.
This game is the first of a quick two-game set between the teams, who will meet again at Cox Convention Center on Wednesday. Windy City then heads east for a back-to-back at Greensboro, while Oklahoma City prepares for a four-game homestand continuing Sunday against Rio Grande Valley.
Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. local time.
