Raptors 905 vs. Osceola
Preview: G League’s Top-Ranked Raptors 905 Visit Surging Osceola Magic
KISSIMMEE, Fla. (Interstat) — The NBA G League’s top team looks to rebound from a rare stumble when the Raptors 905 visit the surging Osceola Magic on Monday night at Silver Spurs Arena.
The Raptors 905 (24-4), the affiliate of the Toronto Raptors, own the league’s best record but are coming off a 109-93 road loss to the Long Island Nets on Friday. That defeat snapped a stretch where they had won eight of their previous nine games. Forward David Roddy, a player on assignment from Toronto, has been a consistent force, averaging 12.1 points, 7.6 rebounds and 5.2 assists over his last 10 contests. He logged 39 minutes and scored 20 points with eight rebounds in the loss to Long Island.
Osceola (17-9), the affiliate of the Orlando Magic, has won seven of its last eight games, including a dominant 124-103 victory at Westchester on Saturday. The Magic have been potent offensively, scoring 130 or more points in three of their last five outings. Center Will Baker has been a key contributor during this run, posting three double-doubles in his last eight games, including a 23-point, 11-rebound performance in an overtime loss to Greensboro on Jan. 17.
Monday’s matchup pits the league’s elite against one of its hottest teams. The Raptors 905 have proven formidable on the road with a 10-3 record away from home, but will face an Osceola squad that is 9-3 at Silver Spurs Arena. Roddy’s all-around play will be critical for the visitors, while Osceola will rely on Baker’s interior presence and efficient scoring.
This game is the first of a quick two-game set between the teams, who will meet again in Kissimmee on Wednesday. For Raptors 905, it begins a stretch of eight consecutive road games. For Osceola, it opens a four-game homestand.
Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST.
