Oklahoma City vs. San Diego

SAN DIEGO (Interstat) — The Oklahoma City Blue delivered a decisive and unexpected road victory Saturday night, defeating the San Diego Clippers 113-92 in a G League contest at Frontwave Arena. The win, which came one night after a narrow four-point victory over the same opponent, marked the Blue’s first winning streak of the season and was achieved against significant odds.

Interstat’s ELO system had given the Clippers a 78.5 percent probability to win. Instead, Oklahoma City improved to 8-20 across all competitions, while San Diego fell to 14-15.

The most important part of the game was Oklahoma City’s sustained defensive pressure and offensive execution after halftime, which turned a competitive game into a rout. After trailing 31-27 following a high-scoring first quarter and leading just 53-56 at the break, the Blue seized control in the third quarter. They outscored the Clippers 29-20 in the period, fueled by a stifling defense that forced San Diego into rushed shots and turnovers.

That momentum accelerated dramatically in the fourth quarter. Oklahoma City opened the final period on a 20-0 run, holding San Diego scoreless for nearly six minutes. The Clippers did not register a point in the quarter until Kobe Brown made a free throw with 6:39 remaining. By that time, the Blue had built an insurmountable lead, having transformed a 76-72 edge at the start of the quarter into a 96-76 advantage. San Diego was held to just 16 points in the fourth.

The Blue’s offense was consistent throughout, scoring 27, 26, 29 and 31 points by quarter. San Diego’s output declined each period, from 31 points in the first to 16 in the fourth.

Guard play was central to Oklahoma City’s success. Zhaire Smith, a shooting guard from Garland, Texas, was a persistent force, creating turnovers and finishing at the rim. Point guard Anthony Pritchard of Tulsa, Oklahoma, facilitated the offense with timely assists and defensive plays. Their backcourt pressure disrupted San Diego’s rhythm, particularly in the second half.

For the Clippers, forward Kobe Brown of Huntsville, Alabama, provided interior scoring, while Montreal native Jahmyl Telfort offered perimeter offense. Point guard Jaelen House generated chances but also committed several costly turnovers against the Blue’s active defense.

The victory gives Oklahoma City a two-game sweep of the back-to-back set in San Diego, a rare bright spot in a difficult season. The Blue will look to extend the streak when they host Windy City on Monday. The Clippers aim to regroup before hosting College Park next Friday.
