Memphis vs. Iowa
IOWA WOLVES HOST MEMPHIS HUSTLE IN G LEAGUE CLASH
DES MOINES, Iowa (Interstat) — The Iowa Wolves (15-12) look to rebound from a narrow home loss when they host the struggling Memphis Hustle (9-17) in a G League matchup on Saturday, Jan. 24, at Wells Fargo Arena.
The Wolves enter having dropped two straight at home, including a 108-106 defeat to Long Island on Monday. Despite the loss, center Rocco Zikarsky was dominant, recording 18 points and 20 rebounds. The 7-foot-3 big man has been a consistent force, averaging a double-double over his last 10 games with multiple recent 20-rebound performances.
Iowa’s season record places them in a more favorable position than Memphis, which sits near the bottom of the Western Conference. The Hustle, however, snapped a seven-game skid with a dramatic 117-116 overtime road victory at Salt Lake City on Wednesday.
Memphis will rely on forward Abou Ousmane, who posted a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds in that win. Ousmane has seen increased production lately, scoring in double figures in three of his last four outings after a quieter stretch in early January.
The Hustle’s victory over Salt Lake City was a rare bright spot in a 2-8 stretch over their last 10 games. Nate Hinton (21 points) and Jahmai Mashack (14 points, 7 assists) were also key contributors in the win.
Iowa has won three of its last five and boasts a more balanced attack. In the loss to Long Island, Jules Bernard scored a team-high 29 points while veteran Alize Johnson added 15 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists.
This contest begins a brief two-game homestand for Iowa before a West Coast trip. Memphis continues a lengthy road stretch, playing its fourth consecutive game away from home.
Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. CST at Wells Fargo Arena.
