Capital City vs. Austin
Preview: Go-Go Look to Bounce Back Against Surging Spurs
LEANDER, Texas (Interstat) — The Capital City Go-Go will seek to halt a two-game slide and split a back-to-back series when they visit the Austin Spurs in a G League matchup Friday night at H-E-B Center at Cedar Park.
The Spurs (19-6) defeated the Go-Go (13-13) 110-103 on Thursday, extending their winning streak to four games and solidifying their position among the league’s elite. Austin’s offense has been potent, averaging 120.3 points during the streak.
Capital City, hovering at .500, has lost two straight and four of its last six. The Go-Go will lean on guard Keshon Gilbert, who is coming off a stellar 28-point, 7-rebound, 9-assist performance in a win at Texas on Monday. Gilbert’s playmaking will be crucial against a stout Austin defense.
Austin counters with wing Donovan Williams, who scored 26 points in Tuesday’s road win at Oklahoma City. Williams has provided efficient scoring, shooting 50% or better in four of his last five appearances.
Interstat’s ELO system projects Austin with a 79.4% probability to win Friday’s contest. The Spurs have been dominant at home, while the Go-Go have struggled to find consistency on the road.
Following Friday’s game, Austin begins a two-game road trip at Valley on Sunday. Capital City returns home for a five-game homestand beginning Jan. 30 against Wisconsin.
Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CST.
