Cleveland vs. Grand Rapids
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (Interstat) — The Grand Rapids Gold will seek immediate redemption when they host the Cleveland Charge in a G League rematch Tuesday at Van Andel Arena, just two days after a high-scoring defeat.
Cleveland (13-10) arrives with momentum after edging Grand Rapids (15-11) 132-126 on Sunday in a game that saw 15 lead changes. The victory snapped a three-game skid for the Charge and evened the season series at 2-2, with the home team having won every contest thus far.
The Charge are powered by forward Norchad Omier, who is in the midst of a dominant stretch. Over his last six games, Omier is averaging a double-double with 20.3 points and 11.0 rebounds, including a 28-point performance in the win over the Gold. His interior presence will be a primary focus for Grand Rapids’ defense.
The Gold counter with guard Curtis Jones, who has been a consistent offensive catalyst. Jones is averaging 24.8 points and 5.5 assists over his last four outings, highlighted by a 26-point, 9-rebound, 6-assist effort in a win over Noblesville last Thursday. His backcourt scoring will be crucial against a Cleveland team that allows an average of 121.5 points per game.
Both teams have shown potent offenses but have struggled for defensive consistency recently. The Charge have allowed 120 or more points in six of their last seven games, while the Gold have surrendered 128 or more in three of their last five.
Tuesday’s matchup is the finale of a brief two-game homestand for Grand Rapids before they hit the road. Cleveland continues a four-game trip, with a back-to-back in Birmingham looming later this week. The game tips off at 7 p.m. EST.
